I messed up my board exams. Will it affect my career? [CLAThacker on Quora]

Question details-

"Unfortunately, in my 12th board exams i failed in 2 of my 6 subjects due to some issues beacuse of which i was not able to prepare well for the boards and hence had to appear for the compartment exam. Eventually i appeared for my compartment exam and passed. I am "Pass" in all of my main subjects except one of my optional subject i.e. math(I am from commerce background) and my overall result is "Pass". Although i've myself asked in a few NLU's, and also, no such thing (the compartment factor) is mentioned on the CLAT website, still, am i eligible for appearing in the CLAT nd getting enrolled in the NLUs or can the compartment factor cause any consequences ?"

I believe you should not face any problem at all during admissions. However, 10th and 12th marks do find a place in your CV, and things can get difficult for you if you aren't from a top college, or if your performance in college is anything less than exemplary.

Though it is hardly any consideration, recruiters do feel assured if they see 95% in these two exams rather than 45%, and the same goes for your initial internships. This is also critical in case you wish to for higher education like LL.M. or M.B.A., where you will have to have an answer ready for your performance.

But you should not face any problems at this stage, but my advice to you is to make sure you get an excellent Law School and get high grades in college to have a smooth journey. Otherwise life will get tough for you if you wish to pursue certain professions or streams in a few years.
