When I got the last years paper in my hand, I just turned over to the Legal GK section and got a shock of sorts. Well, 2010 paper is a new ballgame, and would not be set by the same set of examiners. But still, is there any identifiable trend in the question paper that can be expected to be followed in future? I think there are, about two of them.

1. lifting questions from commercial books - Well, those who gave the paper had already said this, but only after looking at the paper I… Continue

perfect and imperfect rights: from clat 2009 paper

question no 123 in last years paper talks about perfect and imperfect rights, and one has to essentially identify whether time barred debt is imperfect or perfect right. I shall quote a English judgment which may help you in understanding:

"A perfect right is one which corresponds to a perfect duty; and a perfect duty is one which is not merely recognised by the law, but enforced. A duty is enforceable when an action or other legal proceeding, civil or criminal, will lie for the… Continue

26/11 Aftermath

It's been a year now since the incident which has been dubbed as the biggest terror strike since 9/11, claimed the lives of some 150 odd men and women including the 9 perpetrators. The aftermath of 26/11 is even more unfortunate than the incident itself. Even after a year we are struggling to find solutions beyond Candlelight vigils and government resignations. It's ironic how 10 men with guns and a year's worth of training, supposedly in a pakistani millitant camp can do to an emerging… Continue

The Indian education debacle

Alvin Toffler, an American writer and futurist, dubbed as one of the most influential people in the global scenario, is particularly famous for his oratory on how education plays a pivotal role in our society regardless of our different cultural and ethnic backgrounds. When questioned about his perception of education in 21st century he says “The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn”. This statement of his… Continue
